About Sarıgerme

The name Sarıgerme is linked to the Sarısu (Yellow water) river that lies near the village Osmaniye. The Sarısu river was once used as a transportation route for timbers that were brought from the forest to the sea.To prevent the timbers from escaping to the sea,the rivers outlet into the ocean was closed with strings during the times of timber transportation. This procedure is called”Germe” in Turkish. The words Sarı and Germe combines and forms a golden beach”Sarıgerme”,developing and improving in the last five years.

Trying to visualize Sarıgerme,a settlement of Muğla’s Ortaca district, with words;7 kms of so shallow,so wide, two blue flags awarded beach also lying beneath the sea ”Babaada ”İsland across is not so far.Climbing the peak and watching the rushing waves, smelling the odor of the sea, takes away all your tiredness.Babaada İsland functions as a breakwater and forms a water circulation around itself. Here is the junction of the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea,and the differance in the salt concentration of the two seas is striking. The Sarıgerme banks of Babada is also a shelter for the yachts. The opposite banks with splendid rocks is a paradise for skin divers.

The district is 12 kms to Dalaman Airport,17 kms to Ortaca,35 kms to Köyceğiz,30 kms to Göcek,19kms to Dalyan 50 kms to Fethiye,51 kms to Gökova,50 kms to Marmaris,180 kms to Bodrum. As you see Sarıgerme is in the middle of the touristic places.
