Dalyan

After seeing the wonder of nature Dalyan, you will understand better why celebrities such as Dustin Hoffman and Sting take their breath away in this heaven on earth. Dalyan is a wonderland bestowed by God on our country with its sea, lakes, history, and healing hot spring waters.

Not so much, 18 years ago, this quiet corner of the Southern Aegean was on the agenda with an international debate, and was attracting attention since it had not been introduced to tourism until then. The 5.5-kilometer-long Iztuzu Beach in Dalyan was the breeding ground for the endangered large size turtles Caretta Carettas living all over the Mediterranean. In those years, the construction that started near this virgin beach attracted the attention of the whole world. As a result, nature lovers won the war, and while the establishment was barred, giant turtles continued to lay their eggs safely on the beach, as they have done for millions of years.

Dalyan continues its life, which started with the ancient city of Kaunos, one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia, on both sides of the canal connecting Köyceğiz Lake to the Mediterranean. The colorful boats sailing through the reeds and sailing in the river will bring you back to BC. It leads to the rock tombs established on the slopes of the mountains in the 4th century. Is it just there? It takes you to the healing hot spring waters gushing from all sides of Dalyan, mud baths that provide health to people, 110 varieties of palm and 700 species of cultivated plant oasis, especially the Blue Madagascar Palm, and perhaps most importantly, to the natural paradise where 154 bird species live, including the endangered ones.
