Köyceğiz

Köyceğiz is a cute and small town of Muğla, one of the most populous provinces of our country. Köyceğiz, which is the ideal route for those who want to live four seasons at once and who want to be in touch with nature, is one of the beauties that should definitely be seen with its rich history.

The reason why it took the name Köyceğiz is, according to legend, a plain was established on Köyceğiz Lake and those who saw it when this plain sank to the ground said, ‘The whole city has sunk, only a Köyceğiz is left on the shore.’

It is a lake formed by the accumulation of water in a tectonic pit and by the effect of the Dalaman stream, with alluviums. There is ‘Lagoon Lake’ called ‘Sülüngür’ where fresh and salt water is mixed. This lake is the spawning place of mullet fish.

You can water ski in this lake for 8 months. In fact, it is a frequent destination for some rowing teams.
